Jellyfish Princess-I mean Queen

WIP for an idea about a Princess Urduja remake.

If an ancient fantasy story took place in a world resembling South East Asia, like the Philippines, it would be cool if the people would ride unearthly sized-jellyfish underwater and have armor/diving gear made out of fish bones, shells and oxygen masks made from animal intestines (we wouldn’t waste anything!)??

REALLY don’t know about jellyfish being the best mounts but w/e this is cool.

Actually, the bell of a jellyfish lacks stinging cells, and is basically the only part of it you can touch without intense pain. The real problem is that many jellyfish navigate using eye spots on/in the bell, so she’d have to be seated so as not to block any of them, and hope it’s one of the species that keep their tentacles firmly underneath them, or completely without arms, like the cannonball jellyfish.

Unless you were talking about how fragile they are, in which case I could see what you mean.

I’ve been wondering about that too. I am quite lacking in Jellyfish knowledge.

To prevent the person from literally crushing the mount, the person riding would have to be small in comparison? If this ‘story’ were to take place in an alternate Earth world with similar humans, I wonder how jellyfish would have evolved (with more muscular/less transparent bells/sentient thinking) to support humans riding them?

Or would this specific human culture support raising/training young jellyfish with human children akin to Mongolians and hawks/horses?
